Shannen Scott was the first person to complete an Apprenticeship in Enterprise in Scotland in 2014. In recognition of this achievement, Shannen was nominated for the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE) Enterprising Learner of the Year Award in October 2014. (Intro text).
Shannen travelled to the House of Lords in London for the awards ceremony, along with key figures from the small business, enterprise and skills sector in the UK. Whilst Shannen did not walk away with the prize, the experience was one she will never forget.
This nomination capped off a fantastic journey for Shannen since beginning the Apprenticeship in Enterprise in 2012. She has gone on to become Head of youth-led social enterprise Apprenticeships in Scotland which specialises in youth vacancies.
Shannen is a real example of what young people can achieve given the right support and opportunity through the development of entrepreneurial skills.
